I remember "Spud" well from secondary school and enjoyed catching up with him at our reunions. Sorry I couldn't get back from our holidays in time to come and say farewell in person Spud but my thoughts are with you and all those missing you today.

At secondary school in Colchester, Carl was known as "Spud". He was well liked by everyone. Spud was cheerful and friendly, sometimes cheeky but always supportive of those around him. I think he brought out the best in people even then. And continued to do so all his life.

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
